Nouakchott, 25/04/2016 – The Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and Territorial Development, Mrs. Amal Mint Maouloud, visited several institutions under her ministry’s authority on Monday in Nouakchott.

During her visit, the Minister went to the headquarters of the National Land Development, Housing Promotion, and Property Management Company, as well as to the capital’s central market, currently under construction.

At the National Land Development Company, the Minister received detailed presentations on the work carried out by the institution and the major projects it has already implemented.

At the central market site, she was briefed on a project spanning 17,615.57 m², including 1,169 shops and commercial spaces, 16 entrances, and 96 sanitation units. The market also offers various services to both vendors and customers.

On this occasion, the Minister emphasized the importance of adhering to the specifications outlined in the terms of reference, particularly concerning the completion deadline.

It is worth noting that the ISKAN company was established in 2010 with a capital of 8 billion ouguiyas. It currently employs around 100 Mauritanian staff.

The company’s mission is to develop national school infrastructure, modernize cities, and prepare land parcels for sale to citizens at affordable prices.

At present, it is supervising the construction of 600 housing units in the city of Zouerate.

The Minister was accompanied by the Secretary-General of the Ministry, the Wali of Nouakchott West, the Hakem, and the Mayor of Tevragh Zeina.
